I'm happy Cardinal Dolan is not Pope

Too often we say one thing and do another. Cardinal Dolan sounds Catholic. He has a program on EWTN. He preaches with passion and has a very engaging smile. So why don't I like the man. I mean I love him, as all Catholics must do, but thankfully we don't have to like everyone. 
Is it now ok to violate canon law if you're a Cardinal? How about a Bishop or a priest? Better still how about you and me? Of course not. Then why does Dolan give Holy Communion to Joe Biden? 
That doesn't win Biden over and it tells the rest of us that being pro-abortion or pro-gay marriage is fine and you can even receive the Lord in Holy Communion. It leads more to hell then to heaven. 
Well here is what Canon 915 says, Can. 915 Those upon whom the penalty of excommunication or interdict has been imposed or declared, and others who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin, are not to be admitted to holy communion.
Well Joe Biden does persist. Cardinal Dolan words are cheap, actions are what we need. Stop leading the sheep to slaughter.

Bill Maher hates the new Pope, now I like Pope Francis even more.

Pope Francis is starting out great!

    Italians and most Catholics seem to really appreciate the new Pope. I think Pope Benedict was great for the church. He did so many great things. I wish the Traditionalists took his invitation to come back. I hope it isn't pride keeping them away.  I sometimes wonder why God does what he does. Why did we change the Mass. As my son says, the new mass tried to be cool.  Kids don't go to church for the cool factor. They go for the rock factor. It is for the Truth, the stability, the goodness, the beauty. Now don't get me wrong the new mass can also be all of that when not abused by some priests. I do think, however, that the Lefebvreites, were put to the test of obedience. Instead of staying in the Church, they went the way of the protestants.  Well not completely but enough to make one wonder if their pride took over instead of obeying and working from within. And now after Benedict gave them the huge olive branch of always allowing the Extraordinary Rite and their continued refusal, it makes you wonder. Pride goeth before the fall. I hope they return for their sake and ours.
    On a happier note, I love the words of Pope Francis, "DIO NON SI STANCA MAI DI PERDONARE"(God never tires of pardoning). 

This really helped me see Jesus' love for us. God never tires of forgiving, we tire of asking.

Traveling to Italy

First of all, let me just say that I'm reviewing this product because I love anything Italian. I wanted to be able to speak Italian and went through a number of courses. I've tried Rosetta Stone and it is not for me. I know others who have used Rosetta Stone and it didn't work for them either. You must use a computer with it so it limits where you can learn it. Also, although the pictures are nice, if you're an adult you're not going to learn it like you learned your first language. You can't help but translate at first even if you just are recalling a word. Also it is very expensive so for me it was not worth the money. Now the Pimsleur approach is much more practical. I think this is more the way we learned our first language, by hearing. Now it isn't exactly the way we first learned, it may even be better. The spaced repetition approach works really well. You are given the English and you then say the Italian. So it works but it is a little boring. I find myself yawning so much while doing it. So if you can stay awake this will work. However, it too is very expensive. I like it better then Rosetta Stone however.

What I like about it is that it takes you on an Italian adventure as you learn. You go through different stories with each lesson and feel like you're on a trip to Italy. You eat, go to hotels, meet people and more. It makes learning fun and it drives you to want to learn more. I always looked forward to what I would experience next. It also gives you just enough explanations to help you understand why you say what you say. I felt like I learned more words for less money and it was fun.
